Inktober is a drawing challenge that Mr. Jake Parker started and became somewhat of an international endeavor. This year I decide to take part in it as a way to make a bunch of nice sketches for the Japanese Folktale Sketchbook.
Each drawing is about 3″ by 5″ on some fancy Italian cotton paper made by company called Rossi. I gotta say, it wasn’t the best choice for wet media but it held up amazingly well. At the bottom right of the image of all the compiled drawings is a picture of the final stack of pictures as well as the materials used, which includes Higgins Black India Ink, Sakura Micron and Brush Pens, Kuretake Waterbrushes, white gouache and a white gel pen. A few of them have a splash of red watercolor as well.
This month of October was exhausting yet satisfying. I discovered a couple of great artists on Instagram who were also doing Inktober and became friends with a few of them too! I’m definitely looking forward to participating again next year!
